D. Terry Greenfield

Terry Greenfield is the current president of NACE International (2019-2020) and a Principal Consultant with CONSULEX. Mr. Greenfield has over 40 years of experience in the corrosion and protective coatings industry, providing program and project management, failure analysis & expert witness, quality assurance, corrosion condition assessment & maintenance planning, specification development, and training for the Marine, Transportation, Pipeline, Oil & Gas, and other industries and is extensively published.

Mr. Greenfield is graduate of the University of Central Florida. He holds certification as a NACE Level III Coating Inspector with Bridge, Marine and Nuclear Specialties, Offshore and Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Certifications as well as being a SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist. 

He has been an instructor for NACE International since 1997 for the Coating Inspector Program and Corrosion Assessment Programs. Mr. Greenfield was one of the primary authors of the NACE International Offshore Corrosion Assessment Training and Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training courses as well as the CIP2 Marine course. Mr. Greenfield has been active within NACE International serving on various committees and task groups, including Past Chairman of the CIP Sub-Committee and Past Chairman of STG-04, Coatings and Linings, Protective: Surface Preparation. He also served as the NACE International Delegate to the IMO (International Maritime Organization).

Dr. Likun Xu, Professor 

Likun Xu got his Ph.D. degree in Applied Chemistry from Tianjin University in 2006, and M.Sc. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1989. He had been a visiting scholar in UMIST Corrosion and Protection Centre, UK during 2001-2002. He is now the vice director and senior research fellow of State Key Laboratory for Marine Corrosion and Protection, Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute. His research interest covers marine corrosion, coatings, electrochemical protection and corrosion monitoring. He has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles and a book on corrosion protection of marine structures. He was the President of Shandong Society for Corrosion and Protection (2014-2018). He is now the Council Member of Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection, the Member of Scientific Committee of China Surface Engineering Association and the Member of Scientific Committee of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. He is also a SAC expert in ISO TC 156 Corrosion of Metals and Alloys, and has served as project leader of three ISO standards. Dr. rer. nat. Johann Wilhelm Erning  

Works at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und –prüfung (BAM), Berlin, Germany. Studied Chemistry in Cologne and Bonn. Worked for the research centre Jülich from 1993 – 1996. Worked as post-doc at South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences from 1996-1998. Currently working at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und  -prüfung (BAM) since 1998. Topics: electrochemistry, metals in contact with drinking water, failure analysis. Participation in various committees at EFC, CEN, DIN, DVGW…

Bojan Podgornik, PhD, Assoc. Prof. 

Bojan Podgornik received his PhD at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from the field of Tribology and Hard coatimgs application. In 2001 and 2002 he was guest researcher at Uppsala University, Sweden. From 2002 to 2011 he was employed as a researcher and associate professor at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He had lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Power Transmissions and Contact Mechanics. From 2011 he is a head of Metallic Materials and Technology at the Institute of Metals and Technology. At the same time he gives lectures at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Nova Gorica and at the Swedish PhD Research School in Tribology, Uppsala. He is a member of editorial boards in several scientific journals, guest editor of special journal issues and books in the field of materials and tribology, organizer and member of organizing and scientif committees for national and international conferences. He was also coordinator of several workgroups within international projects. He has published several book chapters, over 100 journal papers (h-index = 24), over 180 conference papers with 30 being invited talks, and over 200 expertises. He was supervisor for five PhD students, M.Sc. and specialization work as well as for eight B.Sc. students.

Prof Dr. Giovanni Bruno

Born 1966 in Potenza (Italy), Prof. Bruno did his master in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Bologna, Italy (1989) and then got his Ph.D. in Materials Science at the University of Ancona Italy (1997), working on Residual stress analysis in metal welds. Successively, he also got a Master degree in Solid State Physics at the University of Bologna, Italy (1998). After Post-Doctorates at the Open University, Milton Keynes, UK (1998-1999) at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin (1999-2001), he became project leader at the University of Manchester, UK, and at the Institute Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France (2001-2005). He then moved to industry, as head of the Physical, Mechanical and Structural Characterization Group at Corning SAS, Avon, France (2005-2008) and as project leader at Corning Incorporated (France, 2008-2010, and USA, 2010-2012). As of November 2012, he is head of the Division 8.5 (Micro- Non-Destructive Testing) at BAM, Berlin, Germany, and Professor at the University of Potsdam, Institute of Physics and Astronomy. His research interests span from residual stress analysis with neutrons and X-rays, quantitative microstructural characterization by means of Computed Tomography and X-ray refraction, and micromechanical models of elastic properties and stress in solids with defects (pores, cracks), especially applied to additively manufactured metals and ceramics.

Title of plenary invited lecture: Quantitative non-destructive materials characterization by means of 2D and 3D X-ray imaging techniques.
